AWANA Grand Prix - race begins at 6:30 p.m.  Come out and join in the fun!!

Our AWANA Ministry is a Bible based program for children. Charity Baptist was chartered through AWANA Clubs International, August 1996. We are in our 12th year.

AWANA comes from the first letters of 11 Timothy 2:15 'Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.'

The AWANA staff is made up of church members who volunteer their time, talents and energy to teach the "clubbers" and set forth positive and Godly role models.

AWANA Meetings are held on Wednesday night, 6:30 - 8:15 p.m. The program follows the Sullivan County School System schedule. The AWANA Club does not meet when the school system is not in session.

The Clubs are divided by grades:

CUBBIES: age 3 - Pre-school
SPARKS: Kindergarten - 2nd grade
T & T GIRLS: 3rd - 4th grade
T & T BOYS: 3rd - 4th grade
T & T GIRLS: 5th - 6th grade
T & T BOYS: 5th - 6th grade
JV: 7th - 8th grade
VARSITY: 9th - 12th grade

The weekly program is an intense fun time of learning and training. Awana Clubs consists of three segments; game time, handbook time and council time. Game time is a time of fellowship with the other "clubbers". The children learn team work, team spirit, and Godly attitudes. Handbook Time is a time used for the children to recite the verses they have been studying. Council Time is the time in which the teachers present the Gospel to the children.

The "clubbers" earn AWANA dollars or points weekly by completing sections in their handbook, wearing their uniforms, bringing their Bibles and handbook each week and for bringing visitors.

These AWANA dollars can be spent in the AWANA Store. The store is open twice a year. Once at Christmas, where the they can buy gifts for themselves and their family, and again at the end of the AWANA year.

The "clubbers" also earn AWARDS which they wear on their uniforms. These are earned by finishing sections in their handbook. These awards are presented to the "clubbers" at the end of each club night. To offset the cost of the awards, there are weekly dues of 50 cents.

When a child finishes their handbook, they receive a plaque or trophy. These are presented on AWARDS NIGHT at the end of the AWANA year. The children are then recognized for their achievements during the year.

In the winter, the 3rd - 6th grade boys and girls participate in Bible Quizzing. They work together as a team reciting verses and truths they have memorized. They compete against other "clubbers" in our district.

In the spring, we participate in the AWANA Games. The different clubs compete against the same clubs from other churches in our district. Each individual club works together as a team and play the games they have learned during Game Time.

We also have a family oriented event. In the AWANA Grand Prix, the "clubbers" build a pine wood derby car. Race winners & Showmanship are recognized. During this event, we have a fundraiser. Through this the AWANA Club has been able to purchase needed items for the kitchen to use in the AWANA Club and also materials for the AWANA Club.

Each year AWANA enters a float in the Bristol & Blountville Parades at the 4th of July and also at Christmas. The "clubbers" walk and hand out tracts at this time.

Volunteer workers are always needed and Welcomed in the AWANA Ministry. If interested, contact AWANA Commander, Amy Greene.
